Urban Circular Bioeconomy Webinar Series 2

From idea to implementation

The EU Bioeconomy Strategy sees cities becoming major circular bioeconomy hubs, where biowaste is a feedstock for safe and sustainable bio-based products.

But until now very few cities and regions have developed circular bio-based economy strategies or projects for the production of innovative bio-based products.

The HOOP project aims to drive innovation in the sector by assisting 8 cities and regions, our Lighthouses, in the implementation of novel circular processes. By helping the Lighthouses address legal, financial, and technical barriers, HOOP will unlock significant investments in state-of-the-art biowaste and wastewater valorisation technologies.

In this webinar series experts from the HOOP project will share learnings and good practices to help make urban circular bioeconomy projects a reality.

7 MAY | 10:00-11:00 CEST

1. Collection and valorisation of urban biowaste

Separate collection and treatment of urban biowaste is now an obligation across the EU. This webinar will present the state-of-the-art of technologies for the production of bio-products
from biowaste and wastewater. A municipal representative will share their experience of implementing a novel technology in their territory.

3. Developing urban circular bioeconomy investment projects

There is a growing demand for circular bioeconomy solutions, but many factors curb the development of concrete projects. In this webinar HOOP experts will share lessons learnt from providing Project Development Assistance (PDA) to 8 cities and regions, and present tools to empower financial investments in circular bioeconomy.

4. Engaging stakeholders for the urban bioeconomy

Stakeholder engagement is crucial for organisations to understand, address, and balance the interests and expectations of various stakeholders. In this webinar, HOOP experts will present strategies to help cities and regions engage stakeholders for the urban bioeconomy, and tools to bring citizens into the decision-making process.
