Mapping urban metabolism to boost circular bioeconomy

The Dutch research and consulting firm Research4Life (R4L) and its subsidiary Biomass Research are devoted to the development of sustainable food production, to the valorisation of waste, and to finding solution for bioenergy and bio-based products.

As part of the HOOP project, Biomass Research deal with biodegradable municipal waste which includes food waste from kitchens and canteens, green waste from gardens and parks, and sludge that is produced in wastewater treatment plants. This is all part of the our urban metabolism.
